I keep seeing this ad on my local CL and am wondering if the asking price is reasonable. I only have 1 silver cert in my paper collection so far and am not sure that I have what it takes to follow through with set building , so I thought that maybe buying a well started small collection would help me decide if paper is for me. http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/clt/1745161849.html Thanks In Advance
Not an expert in bills but with a face value of all that currency at 244$ and the hawaii and north African notes pretty pricey along with the national notes and gold certificates its not horrible but im no expert i would call him and try to barter maybe 750
i would ask for more pictures especially closeups of the $10 north africa silver cert. the $20 gold cert and the $100 red seal. depending how the condition is on those 3 notes that is worth at least half of there asking price. the other notes i have no doubt in my mind are worth the difference and then some. maybe you could get the price down a little. just make sure you get better pictures before you pull the trigger. another thing to consider is maybe going for a particular set. like silver certs, or we have a group that focus on a certain federal reserve district. i currently collect Chicago notes. there are a lot of different ways to go. dont get me wrong when i first started i grabbed anything i could get my hands on. you could also go for large size notes. i suggest to search through old posts in the paper money section and you will see some amazing notes. also you can check the 2 links i have in my sig. there are a lot of notes i am proud of in my collection. good luck on your endeavors :thumb:
