Coin bubble?

Is there a coin bubble and are we about to see it pop? Huge amounts of discretionary spending and speculation are fueling the high prices but what happens when the other sectors of our economy flounder, will we lose the gains over the last year?

hey, bubble pops and i can get coins cheaper... ;)

usually the market recovers after each burst anyway, so much like the stock market it's best to hang in there...

For me there's one key word- 'inflation'. It pretty much, not always, but most of the time guarantees the value will rise.

    I HOPE so…. Sorry.

I’d like some of the high graded coins to come down some. Maybe see silver slump to $6.00 Till it does I’ll stick with my dime collecting. But I do think a correction is coming.

The economy is growing at a healthy 3.4%, which means most are people increasing their income. OIL is up, which means generally higher silver prices. There is talk of 3-4% inflation. Based on that, I am afraid coins will not be going down. However, I have been wrong many times and I have not considered cycles. But, for the true collector, that is all noise. I would like to see coins go down so I can afford more.

Coin bubble has stopped expanding in any case. Certain series have gained in popularity. My favorite, The Morgan Dollars, have not only stabilised, but some better date and grades are cheaper now than a year ago.

My "mind" tells me I should sell off my hoard (or at least "thin the herd") and buy fewer, high quality key date coins after the bubble bursts...but I can't bring myself to sell my "children".

I would make a lousy coin dealer; I get too attached to coins.

For instance, I'm looking at a raw 1800 half cent right now (~VF20). Just an average coin, but there's something special about the lettering and wreath on the reverse that I find BEAUTIFUL!! No way I could sell this coin.

EDIT: Ooops, I just noticed the date of the OP! Actually, I got a lotta great buys in 2005. If we were in a bubble in 2005, we're REALLY in a bubble now!
