Acutally for PF70Dcam 2009 cents that is not a very bad deal.I have seen people pay a lot more for these coins. The PCGS graded ones are even more.

I dont care if they are graded PF-99! Does not make sense to me to buy a shiney new penny for 100 bucks. But to each his own.

Tell you guys what...I have a roll of pennies in my hand. That means it has potential to have 50 MS70s. And i will sell it to you now for just $50! Its a great deal!

(It says great deal, so it must be.)

This is a one-time offer! (unless someone actually buys it).

These pennies normally go for thousands of dollars!

The value is based on what someone will pay for it, MS70 coins are sought
After but based on the discount price maybe not so much in this case!

There are all kinds of idiots in this world, and many of them shop on eBay and Coin Vault.

And that's why your not buying them but the person that does does care about the grade.
Don't think about it as buying the coin but the holder in this case.

I agree. Who wants a shiny new penny? I mean, who cares if it has the number 1909 and a little S and an even tinier VDB.

    Silly modern coins. :D

When considering any purchase, here's a question I ask myself:

Is the coin worth more, less or about the same raw versus in the slab?

If the coin worth more in the slab, chances are it isn't going to come home with me.

Not even with stolen money, a check with someone else's name on it, or a fictitious money order.

No doubt the seller has priced those out because they're in a fancy NGC slab.

    Pardon the euphamism, B.F.D.!

If you go by Redbook, those in PF-65 are valued at $4 a pop.

I would say the set of 4 in my 2009 proof set may have sold for what, $14.95 from the Mint? Maybe the value is in the neighborhood of about $20, $23 for the set, if I were to break the proof set up.

You gotta love the free enterprise system!

Don't get me started on the MS-70 anything. The asking prices for MS-70 coins is as ridiculous as this sellers asking price for 4 pennies, that he/she was lucky enough to have received a PR-70 grade.

:goof: I've never seen a 70 on any coin. I can find a flaw with one eye tied behind my back...:rolling:

so whats the general consensus? are we in agreement that $100 for a MS-70 2009 penny is complete and utter BS?

Compare the price to a similar set graded PF69, and, ... yeah.

I can't tell the difference between 69 and 70 by visual inspection, so I bought a set of these graded PF69 for my collection. You can easily get those for $25-$30 on eBay.

Only reason I call it crap is the pricing...ridiculous...
