I've bought a coin from GSC before. I think you've bought a gorgeous coin, but I will say that GSC is a brilliant coin photographer. Not sure what it is, but any hint of toning seems to really pop in his pics.

I think it would be interesting if you photographed the coin when you receive it in normal light and let us see what it looks like.

Please know that the people who have been critical in this thread are doing so for your own protection.

Please don't get the wrong idea from those people -- they are trying to help you in sharing their opinions and experiences.

Many, many people have been burned by this seller.

    Take care...Mike

Dime, It is sometimes risky to let others see what you paid for a certain coin. It is setting yourself up for monday morning quarterbacking to the max. I have a few coins I'm sure that people would slay me on what I paid for them or what they think the grade is based on a picture and act like they have an infallible collecting track record. I dig your coin and if you know those dimes there is no problem bidding on them raw. Sometimes that is how we pay for our tuitions. You pay to learn that way or you pay TPGs in instalments at X% over per coin for "security". But in the end there is no playing it safe if you want to actually own coins. I'm not trying to be a guru, just standing up for you a little.

I don't think anyone was attacking him... I know I wasn't. I didn't say a thing about how much he paid.

i agree, i am sure everyone of us who buys coins online has at least been disappointed, even just a little at a coin we got at one time or another. it happens...

I wouldn't have bought the coin, GSC should be avoided, and I agree with Lehigh on the dipping and toning.

In the o.p., the question was asked, "any idea what it will grade?" In truth, I can't tell from those photos. From reading numerous threads about this seller, I have come to the conclusion that many of the coins sold have problems. Some don't. I would want to be absolutely comfortable with my purchase, and would examine it very closely, and have a low threshold for returning it. I have just about stopped buying pricier MS/AU coins raw, having been "taken" on a number of occasions by a cleverly photographed problem coin. The TPG's can be a big help in that regard, although they are not perfect. Heck, look at my avatar: I believe it was dipped and retoned, but it's pretty, and it's in an NGC 58 holder ("market acceptable", I suppose).

I hope the coin turns out to be everything the buyer hoped for. I also hope the buyer will keep emotions at bay when examining it, and return it if he has one scintilla of doubt.
