And then an 1876-D Bavaria five-marks.

And then a Wurttemberg 1876-F two-marks.

 

I missed out on a whole whack of 77s all from Germany
Sachsen/ Hamburg/ Pruessen/ Bayern all AV 5 Marks. The Pruessen 1877-C Cleve Mint is very rare.

In 1873 the last french emperor Napoleon III. died in exile. His son Napoleon Eugene was proclaimed as Napoleon IV. in March of 1874 by the remaining Bonapartists who issued this medal to celebrate the event:

I have not yet seen an example where the reverse was engraved with anything so I wonder if anyone knows what this empty space was for?
Young Napoleon IV. would die fighting for the british 5 years later in South Africa which damaged the Bonapartist cause alot and maybe prevented a revival of the Empire.
