I have seen many graders from photos on this forum, so I have a raw coin that a single point or two will make a huge difference in value and therefore whether or not it should be slabbed. I bought this coin raw in 1995 for $35. The dealer saw me cherry-picking his roll and yelled at me for it, so I only got the best of like the first 5 coins, but I like the one I got. I took this picture this morning with my digital camera and have not doctored it in any way. If you please, give me grade for this coin.
ok, here's the reverse. The angle is a little oblique so I could get the lighting and you could see the surfaces clearly.
Mike, very nice well struck coin. Looks pretty flawless from the photos, possibly a few tiny specks in the left field, so perhaps MS67, but possibly less if there are any ticks that I can't see in the pictures.
The pictures show it pretty much how it is. I can't find a mark on this coin. Very clean surfaces, but it IS a '95...
I agree, Look underneath the R on the obverse, looks like a swiggly line and there is a pimple (appears as one) on his cheek.
It was fuzz on the lens, I apologize. There is a small mark inside of the U and it is not raised. this is the mole on his face, not a pimple.
Is this the 1995 Doubled Die or are my eyes playing tricks on me? I haven't see anyone indicate this. I suppose $35 for a 1995, even in MS67, would indicate a DD.
ok... and now you've made me really really look at it closely in that area. The black squiggly line was lint. The "dots" near Trust look very much like die corrosion. It looks like the die was starting to rust in that spot. That's the only explanation that I can give. It's not white spotting, it is definitely on the surface, and is NOT contact marks. That is my best guess.
until you said it, nobody had said it out loud, but I think that Doug and Charmy assumed that it was obvious due to the $35 price paid for the coin during its year of release.
Too me(big caveat there) the obverse looks as nice as this 68. http://caimages.collectors.com/coinfacts/large/60087647.jpg
That's cool, the 95 DDO is a coin often forgot about up North of the border, so it slips my mind. Have these went up in price since 1995?
Mikenoodle's DD doesn't appear to have doubling at the inside of the O of ONE like Jalengomez's picture, though both look almost identical on the obverse. Is his a second pairing of the DD obverse? Tops and Bottoms of UNITED show no doubling either on the mikenoodle coin vs the Jalengomez example. Perhaps it's washed out of the photo and it actually there.
