This is my first post. I have collected off and on but there are so many things that I have yet to learn so I still would consider myself a newbie.

My first question. Does anyone know how to tell the difference between a 1994 & 1999 rands? To me they look the same. I need to get the 100 and 200 to have a complete set but don't know which year I should be getting.

Disregard - didn't notice it was in the paper money forum

The 1994 KM# 138 has English legend on the left of the Coat of Arms and Afrikaans legend on the right.

The 1999 KM# 164 has the Afrikaans legend above the Coat of Arms

From the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money (do you have one?), it looks like the difference is in the signatures only. If you don't have a catalog, you could post your notes, I'd be glad to look up which signatures you currently have.

Edit... whoops it appears Billyray is looking at some more detailed info than I. SCWPM doesn't show both images, just describes them as two different signatures.

Here is the 1992-93 50 rand note. Signature is C.L.Stals.
The 1999 notes have the other signature (T.T.Mboweni) but I don't have any to post.

Thanks for the quick responses! Looks like I have both sigs already so it probably doesn't matter which 100 & 200's I get.

I will have to look for a standard catalog of world paper money book.
