Here's a make believe just to see if we can have some fun. You can buy anything you want except gold coins. Let's say someone said they would pay for one coin every few days but you had to buy a coin which would appreciate in price within the next 5 years. Potentially you have the opportunity to buy 200 to 300 coins which you will be able to sell and keep the profit. lol There's a couple of catches tho, you gotta buy the same coin type over and over again, it's gotta be the same year and you can't spend more than $500 per coin. So what would you buy ASE's are fairly safe, mercury dimes are really cool, buffalo nickels, morgan silver dollars?? I'll go first even tho I might mess up. Heck, maybe we can get an idea on what coin to buy next. Anyone? Even tho I love the 2006 ASE "W" and I think it's a sleeper, I would stick with a 1921 "high relief" Peace Dollar.
ASE Reverse Proof in PF70 condition. I have a NGC case full of them (20 coins) in the basement. I hope they are worth something someday.
1927S SLQ in VF20 to 35. 396,000 mintage < the mintage of a 09S VDB at over 1/3 the cost. Plus if you kept buying them the prices are bound to go up. Espically if you got 300 of them.
but-- when you go to sell them! J/K Careful dispersal would be fine. I remember in high school one guy collected a roll of them, just waiting for the price to go up. Of course, he was just 30 years too early.
1977 Haitian 50 Gourdes DROITS HUMAINS Coin, Silver for about $30.00 Only about 700 made and If I owned 300 of them.........Hmmmmmmmmm LOL
Because you asked http://home.comcast.net/~opus007/Haiti 1977.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~opus007/Haiti 1977 Obverse.jpg
1909 VDB Lincolns in PCGS MS66RD They have taken in significant hit in value over the past two years and I think they are temporarily undervalued, especially if you're buying PQ examples. The 1909 VDB is a high demand coin by Lincoln collectors, type set collectors and just about every other U.S. coin collector. In 66RD it's a pretty special coin with only around 200 graded higher (and the next grade up costs 5-10x the price). I can see the 66RD doing quite well in the next 5 years and beyond.
I will sell you a few rolls at $500 per coin I've seen some nice examples of the VDB in 66RD selling for around $300 each lately. a couple years ago they were going for $500+ pretty regularly.
Wow, that's a nice looking coin!! I forgot all about the 2008 ASE with the 2007 reverse. Oh well, guess I'll stick with my "high relief"!! :kewl:
well i would have to say 27' 34' or 35' peace dollars. theyre extremely cheap in high grades when compared to their near equal mintage counterparts 28' & 21'
