Picked this one this morning in my roll searching. I don't know what it is ? Also tried this with a camera this time instead of a scanner. Maybe it will show better ? Photography advice is ALWAYS appreciated ! Thanks guys,
Great ! Now I got that far. I think there is doubling in the 0 and the 7 & 9. The "S". Possibly. And a bit on the "L" ?. But all I have for comparison are black and white pics, so I'm not sure if it is a possibly known variety ? Or machine doubling ? But the main place I am seeing it is at the date ? Or are my eyes funny ? This one popped in the tray when I laid the 7 of them I separated together. Thank you.
OK...I see what your asking now. It appears to be MD. not a doubled die. The 1970 S is VERY popular for MD.
Yes, the Cherrypickers Guide has a bunch of the S with die varieties. The 0 kinda looked like one of them ? At least my camera rig seems to be working ? LOL The tripod and stuff I ordered wasn't going to work, so I played McGiver. I got the cam for $17 on eBay.
As I recall, there aren't any DDO 1970S that also have a repunched S into a S/S. So if the devices and the mintmark show a doubling effect, it is MD, as it will affect the mm as well as the date. A large number of 1970S LD show MD to some degree. When I recently went through a Bag of uncirculated, about 1: 40 showed MD. http://www.cointalk.com/t89221 Jim
