So I sold a coin on ebay. Not particularly valuable and it was a nicer 3 cent piece that I earlier posted in this link: http://www.cointalk.com/t93809/ Those were the exact pictures I used in the ebay auction when I sold it and I got about what I paid for it after all the fees and such so kind of break even, but the person who buys it flames me with a feedback. The feedback is positive and then says negative things (badly damaged, not as described). Not to mention the guy waited over 2 weeks to leave feedback. I don't get it, why pop it as positive, then jack out negative comments?
You can never figure out why people do things like this. There are a lot of subconsious emotions involved. Some people are never happy even if they got the deal of a lifetime. Feedback is impulsive at best.
Honestly it peeves me just a bit. I am an honest and straight forward guy. I mean if he wasn't happy he could've popped off an email to me.
Check his buyer feedbacks. He may be fishing for rebates. You may not be the only one he's done that to.
He should have but that means he actually has to deal with you face to face, so to speak. With ebay he can hide and blame you for whatever he may wish. You can reply to his feedback and play it back to something that's better for you if you wish. Spin it on him, but it's probably not worth the time. Be positive. Something like ........ "Sorry you did not like the coin. I offer a 7 day return policy but you have to contact me" Just be nice in what you say.
Unbelieveable! This is why I don't like using eBay for buying, and I would never sell anything with them either. Craigslist.com has no fees, but dealing with scammers, spammers, and idiots is not worth the hassle either. Sorry about your experience.
It is possible I guess that he might have found the previous thread and thought that using verdigone or other chemical on the coin was artificial "something". I don't know if the ebay ad had any comment about that if the same photos were used. I assume that since the same photos were used, you didn't try to remove the corrosion. That is the only possible thing I could think of, otherwise someone with an agenda for something.
Thats dreadful, but issues with feedback like that are all too common on ebay. I've had heaps of run ins with buyers and such giving weird feedback, and have also had issues with sellers giving bad and out of context feedback - it goes both ways. Something you have to get used to when using ebay I spose. There's always going to be people out there like that.
So.... the pictures you had in your auction were the photos shown in this link and not the actual coin you sold?
There's always one out there that can't be pleased. Long as you got the positive mark and the feedback was not all that. I would loose any sleep over it. The pictures look great
