This morning, my daughter and I were on our way to the coin shop to purchase some gold and silver. We stopped at McDonald's for breakfast, and in my change was a 1942 Washington quarter and a wheat cent. I told the girl at the register that the quarter was worth more than $3.00, with an excited smile on my face. She looked at me like I was an idiot. Maybe I am, but she bought my McMuffin and OJ today!
Kind of the same thing happened to me a few months back. Change back from a Starbucks had a silver Canadian quarter...I heard the distinct noise when she dropped the coins into my hand. I said to the young girl, 'oh, thats a silver quarter, and her reply was, I'm sorry sir, would you like another'. I spent 30 seconds and showed her, and explained to her that pre-1968 Canadian coins are worth more in silver than face value as a FYI.
"You deserve a break today" seemingly worked in your case.It is fun to make an occasional score. I found a wheatie in the Coinstar machine yesterday. NOt worth diddly squat, but fun anyway.
SURE!!! Ruin it for the rest of us. Please give location of Starbucks because there is OBVIOUSLY no reason to go and buy coffee there anymore!!!
