I saw this auction and just started drooling. Man oh man , I wish I had that kind of dough. If I could get my hands on a collection that extensive , I could definitely start my on coin & currency shop.

Take a look and guess what the winning bid will be.

Even though it's mostly modern common material, someone will bid this up to $7500.

I was thinking if at least 1/4 of the total face value was in silver coinage , then 11x face for the silver alone would be $7,100.00. Then when you considered all the graded coins and the stacks of special certificates. I would have to guess this auction is going to go for $14,000.00.

This is my official guess: 14k:kewl:

You may well be right, but I doubt this will go over 10K.

When it comes to rummaging through an assortment like this, I'm like a kid in a candy shop.

What I don't like about an auction like this is that you can't even see the coded ID of the other bidders. I don't mind when they are coded, but at least you can see what repeat bidders are doing.

My guess - $15,975 snipe bid

My guess would be over 10k. May not be much but looks like some decent stuff there. This auction reminds me I need to get a bigger safe for my collection. I am out of room.

ALmost looks like someone is selling a littleton collection or something like that. One way to re-coup most of your money. Plus no returns. So my guess is someone over pays at about $7875. :)

  12. Free shipping too! That may be quite costly on all that stuff. TC

It's that free shipping that makes so many bid on that.:goofer::)

Alot of nice stuff there but alot of it looks like crap. Many of the "sets" are polished and so on. And who would dump some of those BU looking dimes and such into a bag of dirty/circulated coins?

But as CPM9ball said, it would be fun to sift through.

I know people at shows who just walk around and buy stuff to put these big EBay "collections" like this together. They say they do pretty good on their listings. I'm not sure how this one did.

id say 5-10% of that has silver content. for a WOW collection you can be assured nothing key date is in there. also love the way everything was organized by a master designer.

One problem is that some items are in multiple photos, making it just about impossible to accurately inventory, but there's clearly >$10K on the table.

I don't know how one could realistically judge what all is there?! For example, the 1899 $5 looks so clean and crisp, I question whether it's even real. Why would it just be laying there like that and not showcased if it was real? Since it would account for a very large chunk of the auction. I say it's a replica.

There's obviously some other novelty stuff mixed in there that likely has little value. You have to wonder how much of that type of fluff is mixed in. None of the albums look that impressive, missing even semi-keys. Nothing MS.

Somebody spent a lot of time coming up with what the face value is and then left out other specifics. Why not put the silver in rolls and make it honest? IMO, it looks like a big mess with no way to tell what you're bidding on. It's another ebay example of sensory overload and what looks to be like an adventure, playing on people's emotions. It's already higher that I'd be willing to go, if I was able to.

It would be fun to go through, but anyone buying it is going to be paying a massive premium for mostly junk IMO. Nothing key date or rarer, nothing worth several thousands of dollars, although that confederate bond looks cool (if it is real) but I think it'll go for around $10k, We'll call it $10,458.00
