Yep - I see what you are talking about. And yes that would certainly impact the selling price - if using pictures such as these. But to me if the coin is really a 64 then the price should be the same no matter the holder - BUT we all know that usually does not happen.
To: The OTHER MARK OK! Let's put this ego trip to bed once and for all and move on. Item 1: Who said anything about research? Item 2: Grading --Where did you get this, nobody even mentioned "Grading this guys coin." Not me or any of the other replies. So why do you even bring this up? Read my original post AGAIN. No, the book does NOT mention color. And as I last said to "Jim" (think it was) .. What is listed in any of the books is not meant to be gospel, only a close quick reference. As I said to him, "if there's one better than the 2010 63rd edition by Yeoman, for quick reference, "I'm all ears". My MS 63 1882 was listed at 90.00 so that's close enough to give me some idea of - ball park value, and that's all I need. As I said, no matter what it says, that's not necessarily what you could get for it if you decided to sell it. Let's be honest. those figures mean nothing when you are ready to sell. Nobody is going to pay full book price anyway. Now, I have spent enough time explaining my goofs, and the meaning and why etc. I did NOT mean to demean anyone. So lets move on to more important issues. No more ego trips. Nuff said. Ancient One Read more: http://www.cointalk.com/t102244/#post890797#ixzz0o3aPtRBt
First let me comment on the coin. Great looking UNC! Love the color, nothins better than an UNC IHC with color like that, just makes her look nice and orig. Now on to the umm....Unplesantness......Can't we just stop and comment on the coin? I mean it's clear that someone (No names) started this argument and that person just need stop, back off, stop arguing with everyone and just say good looking IHC and we we can all be happy here in coin land
Still a nice coin, but the spot of green would worry me. I still think the coin(based off the scans) looks pretty accurately graded. If it was, and depending on what I spent on the coin, I might send it to NCS for a crossover. Assuming it is not eating into the coin. And yes I do tend to get a bit defensive when attacked - so for that I apologize to the OP and other posters.
If I sent it in to NCS would they be able to do something about that little green spot ? What does crossover mean exactly? Thanks
Very nice looking coin. The only bad green that I see is on the TPG label:goofer:. Just my opinion though.
Crossover would mean sending it to another grading service to be graded. Many times you can find undergraded coins, people will crack them out and have them regraded. Done it myself And my last was a MS64 1880 CC that came back as MS65. Nice $900 comeup. Also since you have a lower grade tier slab you would want ANACS, PCGS, OR NGC slabbing. theyre the three biggies. But with the lil green you might get an authentic. So its up to you. But I would say too risky too crossover. IMO Nice coin, didnt notice the green until you said there was some.
