I'm sorry, sometimes I forget who I'm arguing with, their history, their perspective, and arguments we've had in the past. Yes, CAC fundamentally changed the grading scale. They broke each grade down into an A, B, and C, and promised they'd only give stickers to certain categories. Before that, a 65 was basically a 65. You'd pay a bit more for a 65 with great eye appeal, or some other distinguishing quality, but a 65 was a 65. CAC changed that. As a response to CAC.... NGC and PCGS fairly quickly put out the Plus. Now, the Plus was supposed to be only the most premium for the grade. Kinda like, CAC, no? But, if these things were consistent, every Plus should have a CAC. That isn't the case, and won't ever be. CAC made sure that some 65s are better than others. CAC fomented the Plus nonsense. CAC sends out a monthly (is it weekly?) newsletter bragging about how CAC coins consistently win more money at auction. It's posted as a feature on the CoinWeek website. They would absolutely never dream of posting a coin that had a CAC and won less money! If that isn't elitism, I really don't know what is. Sportsballing analogies mean absolutely nothing to me. I don't sportsball. Sorry if I can't follow you here.
And see, this is why it hasn't caught on.... There literally isn't, and shouldn't, be a "final" grade! There should only be the aspect grades! I would say that every buyer has to weigh the aspects for themselves, decide what they prioritize, and how much they desire certain qualities. They have to examine the coin, agree with the grade, and bid according to what they desire. Ah, but that requires thought! Effort! Education! Initiative! In a commodity-based market, that doesn't work. They want to know that this Bicentennial quarter is just like every other MS-69 Bicentennial quarter and when they bid x-number-of-dollars, they have a chance of winning and can sell it in z-number-of-years for MILLIONS!
wow just wow. So somehow CAC created the idea that everything within a grade isn’t equal, somehow that idea shomehow changed grading and wasn’t happening before even TPGS with collectors and dealers, and somehow you know the sportsballing slang term but not what a touch down is? Hahahah just lhahaha
Ah, again, I've forgotten that you sometimes intentionally misrepresent me. I didn't say that CAC created the idea that things within a grade aren't equal. I said that CAC codified that into an A, B, and C, and began labelling it. I didn't say that pricing didn't reflect that before CAC and Plus. I said that CAC made it more acceptable, and more obvious (and probably more extreme, although I couldn't quantify that without research). And, "sportsballing" is the general term I use for anything with sports and balls. Baseball, basketball, football, futball, Doesn't matter to me. I don't care about any of them. I didn't say I don't know what a touchdown is. I said that sports analogies don't mean anything to me. I couldn't tell you how many points this kick or that tackle got or didn't get. I don't care. That's not my thing. Doesn't have to be, lots of people like it and great for them, have fun. All I said was I don't follow your analogy of points for various sporting events. Different fields.
I see a slab collecting scheme at this point. CAC would be re-slabbing their own coins and taking money from both companies bottom line. This NGCX could be beneficial to them.
Seems like they're heading towards the baseball card grading direction? I don't think it will fly with collectors.
Hahahahaso you know what a touchdown is but couldnt put 2 and 2 together for it? Sportsballing is a well known derivative slang term. It doesnt bother me but someone pretending they dont know anything about it using that term is hust LOL
Ah, no, I'm not meaning to attack you. I'm really not. You just seemed to take everything I said and sorta distort it just a little bit and change what I meant. I really don't know if you just misunderstand me, and I'm not communicating well, or if it was intentional because you have an agenda? I really, really don't want a fight.
If it means something more than "sports with balls" and is used by nerds who don't watch sports, then I'm completely clueless. That's literally all I mean by it. I don't watch sports. I don't care about sports. I know a few words because my roommate watches sports. You seem to be really keyed on this term like it's something offensive, and I absolutely don't mean it that way, whatever that might be.
Multiple replies starting with how I misinterpret you yea okay. I'm not playing this game anymore This reply below out of the clouds was just well
Dude, I've taken a year off the forums. I'm sorry if I don't remember everyone's particular quirks, history, arguments we've had, and etc. You're jumping back in like you have an axe to grind... I'm trying to talk about some freaking grading scale that NGC is trying to introduce. Cut me some freaking slack, will you?
Why is any of that relevant to an actual discussion unless you have an issue with whose saying it? I'm not going to apologize for actually wanting to speak on topics and not make it some popularity contest

CAC even says that the A & B levels are different from the C level. Dealers and collectors that use CAC know this for a fact. ."..somehow that idea shomehow changed grading.." Wow, you are absolutely correct again.
Sitting here drinking my New Coke and remembering how eagerly the USA embraced the Metric System back in 1975: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metrication_in_the_United_States
I just took apart an 88 Chevy for the frame and motor. You wouldn't believe how many of the bolts needed half MM sockets. It sucks having to go back and forth from M to ASE.
We never adopted the metric system, at least mainstream America didn’t. I don’t think we were adversely affected in any way.
I mean, besides the rocket we crashed onto mars because we forgot how to convert units? But hey, whatever, right?
