At lunch today, I paid with a $20 and received a $10 star note in return. It's the first one I've ever found. You guys probably get sick of these stories but I wanted to make mention of it, if only for my own reference. It's a series 2004A Serial# GL 08950221 FW B 63 Unfortunately, it has been well circulated. Several creases in it so probably not worth taking a pic, but I do intend to keep it. As others do, I think I will keep any one I come across. They just seem special, even if they aren't worth a lot.
Congrats Vess, Now that you have received one, you will probably get a bunch of them. They seem to come in streaks.
Nice find Vess. It's always fun to find something special in change. I still wouldn't mind seeing a pic though.
congrats on your first star from circulation. :thumb: i still have the first few i found years ago. your note is from a large print run of over 5 million notes. depending on condtion it could range from $20-40.
Thanks for the info. I was wondering how rare or not so rare it might be. Here's a couple pics of it. Like I said, it seems pretty beat up. Not close to being crisp anymore. But no tears. It's going in plastic anyway.
after seeing the picture it is towards the lower spectrum of pricing i gave. still a nice circulation find :thumb:
Congrats on the great find! I still remember when I found my first, in October 2008. It was a series 1999 $1, worn more then yours but not ripped, or written on! Since then I've found three $20 stars, two $5. No more $1, and not a single $10. I don't deal with $50s or $100s, in fact I have not handled a $100 in 9 years now, so none of them for sure. I was able to purchase a few others at the (so far) only coin show I've been to, though! All circulated, but I still enjoy them! I do have one $10 Star that I purchased, though. It seems like whenever I really need the $20 to spend for something, is when I get a Star...never fails! I save every one I get as well, even though two of the 20s are damaged...one has ink on it, and one has what appears to be metallic pink nail polish (?)...for a guy like me, they are still highlights of my collection! Here is my first Star Note that I ever saw in person! When I got it in change at the HobbyTownUSA in Toledo, Ohio... The scan is a little washed out.
i drive truck over the road, i get stars often. from 1's to 100's. every once in awhile i get silver coins, got a V-nickel from my ex's sister. i showed my friend who works at pizza hut about the stars, he was only into coins. Well now he's got more stars then i do. he found a early 60's $5 star note.. he made me jealous...
