The coin is known as a 2 Bolivares - it was issued by Venezuela. It is worth about $3.

Yep, that is a silver 2 Bolivares from Venezuela worth, in that condition, about its weight in silver (.2685 of an ounce). The 'lei' in this case indicates that the fineness of the silver content is 835 parts of 1000 (83.5%). There were 3 million minted that year of a design used featuring the national hero and liberator from Spanish rule, Simon Bolivar. Bolivia was also named for him. You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins by Krause for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.
