Got a GOOD one today in the mail. Been looking for one about this grade for quite a while. MS would have been more than I wanted to spend.
Great coin!! These are just nice... Do you have a close up of the coin as from LeHigh's thread I'd like to see the variety of it if I can
Nice coin. A little bit of high point rub saved you a bunch of money without sacrificing the look, IMO. Have you attributed it yet?
I paid $612 which I figure is about $50-100 less than greysheet BID. Surprised me that I got it that cheap. Maybe the poor economic situation in the US is helping keep the prices down.
Looks like a good price to me too. Mine is raw and rather nice too but I'd like to have it slabbed one day. Do you know the variety?
These are the largest images I have at the moment. I'd have to make some changes to get larger images.
This is the posting about them: http://www.cointalk.com/t50032/ I was thinking 3C but I can't tell for sure from the pictures.
My first response disappeared!? Thanks for the link. After doing a comparison I find my coin is a 2C.
The DuVall varieties of the Lafayette Dollar are as follows: 1-A 1-B 2-C 3-D 4-E All Lafayette Dollars can be attributed by the reverse of the coin. Kanga's coin is a 2-C. Both the C & D reverses show the tip of the first lower leaf over the 9 in the date. On the C Reverse, there are 14 leaves and the stem points down. On the D Reverse, there are 15 leaves and the stem points up. C Reverse D Reverse BTW Kanga, that is an attractive slider Lafayette. Those are tough to get because there are several collectors assembling slider commemorative sets and the Lafayette is a biggie. Congrats!
