    Provincial Bank of Ireland.

Krasnaya Vityaz, the Provincial Bank of Ireland issues notes for circulation in Ulster (Northern Ireland).Ulster's trading bank notes have a very strong Scots
influence in terms of their design.

The Beautiful Bride and I have a deal - she doesn't ask what I spend on coins, I don't ask what she spends on jewelry, neither one of us asks what the other spends for any of the other things we collect, and we don't spend the grocery money on hobbies. :)

Let's see if that system works as well the next 50 years as well as it did the first 50.

I know, they are now known as First Trust Bank, they went through a stint as Allied Irish Banks in the late 1980's.

I used to have a fairly appreciable collection of NI notes, I really liked the old Bank of Ireland and Northern Bank issues from the 1920's, the steel engravings were awesome.

    Ulster banknotes.

Krasnaya Vityaz, I have found the banknotes from Ulster to be very difficult to find.We get more Scots banknotes turning up over here in New Zealand,
especially the ones from the Royal Bank of Scotland Plc.

Speedy, you're the exception. You've started young and are accumulating knowledge at such a rapid pace that you will most likely end up being a numismatic millionaire whether you want to or not.

If the coins get to loud when they call you just put the foil on your head.
There was a whole thread on it somewhere that stated that it did not work but the study did not say what brand of foil they were using!

It wasn't so bad when only the U.S. coins were calling but NOW its the whole darn world!!! I don't tell mommy as much as I used to, even though she still collects, so I just smile and tell her some day this will ALL be for you or the little guy. The joke around here is that she will hold an auction immediately after my funeral, probably still at the funeral home!!! That would be one way to assure my self of a nice turn out now wouldn't it?

    Birmingham 3d. token.

Krasnaya Vityaz, was the Birmingham 3d. token one of the Birmingham Workhouse ones? If so,then it is a huge copper
coin.I have got 2 of these in my collection.I paid far less than the equivilant of 51 Quid for them though.I got mine for NZ$30 each a few years ago.I have also got a few Birmingham Workhouse 1d.'s & a silver 1/-,which I bought for NZ$100.They are nice coins, even though they are not really coins. They are of historical interest though, due to a massive coin shortage.

Aye, 'twas. These things are scarce as hens teeth whence they are not beaten all to hades. I surmise they may have been used as Grape Shot at Waterloo, which is why most of them and the 1797 tuppers are so beaten up.

I wanted to buy a Birmingham bob too, but my penny thrifting lass said I am on the outers for having purchased the threenub.

I collected NI notes for quite a few years, my favourites were the early Bank of Ireland notes, I had a very nice Unc aUnc set of the 1940's until I got more involved in Scottish notes and parted with all 100 or so NI's. Having a tie to Antrim, I rather want to collect them again.
