Im looking for some mintage figures on the mint uncirculated sets sets about 1990 onward. Does anyone have a reliable source with these figures. I need to get a few of the sets to finish off my set up to this year and want to know how much I should be investing to get these certain sets.

Assuming the numbers published in my 2010 Red Book are accurate (sometimes they're not...not the current ones, anyway), I would say...

    1990: 1,809,184
    1991: 1,352,101
    1992: 1,500,143
    1993: 1,297,431
    1994: 1,234,813
    1995: 1,038,787
    1996: 1,457,949
    1997: 950,473
    1998: 1,187,325
    1999: 1,243,867
    2000: 1,490,160
    2001: 1,116,915
    2002: 1,139,388
    2003: 1,001,532
    2004: 842,507
    2005: 1,160,000

Now here's where it starts to get dicey...

    2006: 847,361
    2007: 649,076
    2008: 663,136

I would be very skeptical of those last few numbers. You may find some more accurate numbers on elaine's post...

Elaine always does a service on those posts' I just dont seem to recall seeing previous years' uncirculated sets listed but its all good. I seem to recall there being a big to do with one of the recent years uncirculated sets due to a short minted set, but I believe I have that one.

Does anyone have an update on these mintage figures... specifically for the dicey years of 2006, 2007, and 2008?

I ask because the Mint is now stating they will stop selling 2009 Uncirculated Mint Sets on June 15th... and right now, Numismatic News has this at a little under 760,000.
From what I though I had read elsewhere (a while ago)... those numbers look 'dicey' to me as well. I think... that the lowest as been a little above 800,000 or so....

If so, then 2009 might be the year that the Uncirculated Mint Set does really really well on the secondary market. Especially since many of them have been broken up to get to the copper pennies.

  6. I started a thread about the Mint's recent Last Opportunity in the Coin Chat sub-forum highlighting that U09 set. I think it is a sleeper...only place to get the uncirculated copper cents. BTW: if you want updated mintage figures for these uncirculated sets, search Elaine1970's posts. TC
