    Hey guys,

We have been talking about the unsearched rolls on eBay lately. I said I would let everyone know what I got in the one I bought for $10.25+$3.25 shipping.

When I looked at the roll one end of the paper was a bit loose. I showed it to my wife and told her I thought it had been searched. Not necessairily by the seller though. Well, I opened it up by unrolling the loose end and the cents pushed right out. There were 25 common cents in the 1950s. One 1953 S has a strange mint mark that is possibly inverted. There was a 1919 S VF+, a 1927,28,29,35. 3-1940, 4-1946, 2-1944, 1-1945, 1-1947, 2-1948 D,48,49.
And IHC 1888,96 1903,05 and included in the envelope was a 1897 in a cardboard flip.

I wasn't overly excited, to say the least, UNTIL I found the misplaced date on the 1888 IHC ! I was glancing through the Cherrypicker's Guide to see if just maybe there was something missed. You all are aware by now that I am not set up for photos yet. But I took a scan and pointed out the underlying numbers with red arrows.

See what you guys think ?

the pic is of an 1880, not 1886. But I can't tell from the pics what the arrows point at, but nice find

Your over excite got the wrong date as already mentioned. It does not mean it is not a misplaced date - just nothing in my cherry pickers guide for 1880. You would probably need the Rick Snow books on IHC's to check on that.

Yeah, I saw that. But the serifs on the 1 clearly match up as does the very bottom of the "8". Someone said it is in terrible condition, to which I readily agree, But the beasuty of overstrike is the primary is below the wear. I am going to try my other scanner tomorrow and submit a scan to CONECA if I can.

I must post the `1953 S also. I cannot determine exactly what it is, but know that it is different than 4-5 coins I compared it to.

    Thanks.

Well. this experience turned out a lot better than a lot of them. If I can get a few bucks off the IHCs and determine exactly what the error on the 1953 S is (I think it is inverted) I did get a few more holes filled in the books I am putting together to sell. I mean it's ALL GOOD! There was not a single coin in the roll that I would expect to get in change.

I will take the loss from my bugeted gambling money. So instead of playing a slot machine, I got the coins. LOL

    Thanks

The points of the 1 are coming out underneath and directly west of the neck of the Indian. The bottom of the first 8 is seen just to the south. This 1880 misplaced date has not been catalogued by FS yet. Even though it's well worn, I am thinking of sending it in. Maybe it's a variety that has not show up yet ? It looks like the misplaced date of other year coins ? I will try my other scanner tomorrow for a better shot.

This is a Brand New laptop (had a burn out with my old one) and I have not decided which photo shop program to download yet. When there is more than 1 they conflict ? And just don't work right.

    Thanks.
