Well Worn 1971 S Ike

NGC must be getting a lot of laughs lately. I'll post the 2 coins I sent them when they come back.

Actually, NGC has graded quite a few P-01 which is a lot worse than this. One of our members, there, collects them.

a blue Ike was graded at PO-1?

 

I wasn't referring specifically to the Blue Ike. NGC has graded 12 Ikes P-01.

I cannot decide between a 10 and a 12. Since someone already guessed 12, I will take a 10.

The 71 and the 76 still have some luster which would put them AU50. The other three copper nickel coins are incredibly hard with lots of luster. Yes the high points are worn but luster = AU.

IMO, it's much more difficult to "wear" these coins than it is to find them already worn. This includes the soft silver versions!

I'm not nice to them either. They get shuffled and rubbed against each other with quite a bit of force but just don't wear down.

 

The original coin went into quality control at NGC on Friday. We should know in the next couple of days (hopefully later today) what it graded.
