Well i just got back my notes back from PCGS today and the cross Grading experiment is complete here,s the results: Originally graded by RCGS Series 681 25 Cents in 68PPQ Series 681 50 Cents in 68PPQ Returned today in PCGS Series 681 25 Cents in 67PPQ Series 681 50 Cents in 66PPQ These notes are good! but i new going in that they were over graded So it wasent that much of a shock, I was a little suprised on the 66 But after examining it further it was a little bit shorter about 1/16 th Of an inch in over all length affecting the boarder slightly causing the Lower grade, I did however save over $150 submitting these notes Myself over trying to find and purchase them Also this does complete my Series 681 set !!! With the addition Of the $10 note i just purchase, When that comes in i will post the whole set For your viewing pleasure Here are the photos, I must appologize, Because the fronts of these Notes were tif. Files and not Jpeg,s and photo bucket will not accept This type of file, Ive been trying for several hours to try and make The file transfer, was able to make the 50 Cent front work but not the The 25 but you get the Picture!
If your interested here,s the link to my Series 681 set at PCGS !! http://www.pcgscurrency.com/SETREGISTRY/alltimeset.aspx?s=1615
So all in all you did well by purchasing RCGS notes that you felt would cross reasonably to PCGS. It's a good approach. I've been watching PCGS and PMG notes for the 5 cent MPCs I'm "collecting". I have purchased a few notes but most are raw and in what I'd say vg condition. I was tempted on a few RCGS notes because they looked good to an untrained eye and had substantially lower prices than their PCGS equivalents.
As you can see RCGS notes are over graded by at least 1 full grade Point and in the case of the 50 cent note 2 full grades!! So there Price point would be alot less then there PCGS counterparts so that Must be taken in to consideration in other words the quality is less! Here,s another fun fact the guy that sales these on e-bay actually Own,s the company and grades them as well !! So you really have to self grade before purchase of an RCGS note!
That's my highest grade one MPCUSA. It's nice and I like it This one should grade rather high also but it's raw for now...
Hey Duke the Series 641 10 Cent is a super high quality note i like All 68,s !! The $5 looks ch/unc you might want to send that one in
I'm planning on a bundle of them to be sent in when I see the monthly special on MPC comes around again
No I'm not. Thank you for the offer. They have monthly specials at a discount. It was quite a long time ago they offered something like $8 for any and all MPC's that were submitted that month. But I really don't remember the details. It could have been only for full packs...lol I missed it then but have been looking forward to it coming back around
Point in hand mpcusa... As we all know that grading is a subjective observation based on guidelines, it is nice to know that +/- 1 to 2 points is a fairly narrow range. I am sure there are case's of true overgrading as we have all read about in the past however this seems not to be the case here. Congrats on some fine cross overs. RB
Yeah, i just got in on one of there specials it seems these days its more About time then money!! I paid the same price and was upgraded from Economy to regular service it,s about a 3 week difference !!
When i first saw these notes on e-bay graded 68PPQ i was kind of Excited!! But in the back of my mind i knew that the grade would Not hold up in a PCGS holder so i accepted 67PPQ and thats a very High grade especially in the 25 cent note which is rarer then the 50 Cent one! Am i happy? Overall yes! I got the notes that i wanted at a great Price, Actually went 2 for 1 here even with grading fees! I do have to question the following though, Iam not sure the owner And grader of the company should be selling notes, It seems like A total conflict of interest!!
I would consider the 1 to 2 point higher grades on the RCGS over PCGS nothing to get ones panties in a bunch. I'm a big fan of PCGS and PMG but who's to has they weren't a tad conservative on these examples. Now, when a "grader" grades and sells his own notes........that's another matter and is just so wrong. Not unlike the scum bag former owner of CGX that does the same thing currently. Time out.....had to check my BP. Dangerously high... Conflict of interst would be an understatement. Also, I believe you have to be a member ($300 membership fee now?) to take advantage of the PCGS specials. Been awhile, I could be wrong. To bad CGX doesn't grade MPC and fractionals. You could submit and slip them a C note and get yourself some nice 69 grades! Although in fairness, hopefully those days are gone since March of last year. Let's hope so. Time will tell.
Congrats Rusty beautiful set ,you have a good eye & the disipline to stick with a series, stunning set !:high5:
Iam actually satisfied with the results, As i pretty much new what i Was getting, And i knew that it wouldnt be 68,s !! I also found this out about RCGS they have no registry and no Population reports !! So you really dont know what your getting Or how scarce the note is
