I haven't been here in some time, but it is nice to be back. I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this $100 Bill that has an ink streak running through it. Could this have been done during the printing process or is it may just a bank error? Thank you! Not quite sure how to post a photo, so please excuse this sad attempt.
Hate to just take a stab when I'm clueless, but that looks like someone overstamped a strap onto the bill. The positioning of the ink makes sense too, in regards to where the strap would typically be. You can see some lettering above the 4 in the top serial number.
i would say its a part of a teller stamp. usually when notes are banded in straps the teller would stamp it with the banks name, maybe branch # and some time it would include the tellers #. if anything that would hurt the value of the note. i know from first hand experience as i work at a bank
