I have tried, and tried, and tried to find out what this coin is to no avail. I don't know the country of origin, the language on it, anything. It is roughly the size of a US Half-dollar, golden/bronze in color, very rough engravings, on one side, it looks to have words around the outside, with a goblet in the center, with smoke, or perhaps a bundle of grapes, above the goblet, and on the reverse side, it is much more faded, but there seems to be words around it as well, with maybe a tree, or flower, or perhaps even an olive branch running straight up and down on the coin. I have included a picture of either side as well, please, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Way outside my area of specialization, but it seems to have the general appearance of a Judean Prutah from roughly the first century of the Common Era.
Thanks for the responses thusfar, but I woukd still like no narrow the coin down a little bit further to find out exactly what it is. I agree it does look very similar to an Israel coin, but I can't find any others that look the same. The closest looking coin I've found it it, is this one..
Not in my focus either, but the strike seems very soft as for a cast tourist fake (see the difference with the second one you show) Q
All things considered, I'm inclined to attribute it as a modern tourist piece intended to conjure up thoughts of an ancient prutah.
I agree, the font of the word "Israel" in Hebrew just looks too modern, not something that would have appeared in ancient Israel.
On the side where it reads "Israel", the other word is "Shekel", so it can not be a Prutah. On the other side i managed to read "Jerusalem". The letters fonts are modern Hebrew and not ancient ones (like on the coin on second image), so it feels a lot like a fake or a souvenir.
