I was following this sale on Ebay just for kicks. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...051&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&autorefresh=true I would love to know how this sale plays out. This is the sellers first and only sale on Ebay. If the deal goes down, the buyer made a killing. The twin of this note from the same sheet and same grade, sold for $20,000 back in 2007 on Heritage, but if it ends as I suspect it will.....oh well. :headbang:
The Chief's Headdress (G.F.C. Smillie) What a difference a Headdress made.G.F.C. Smillie engraved and added the headdress to Chief (Running Antelope) of the Oncpapa Tribe for this note. Info and pictures :" U.S.ESSAY,PROOF and SPECIMEN NOTES" by Gene Hessler ,Page 119
What a beautiful note ,someday I will have one ,but for now I'll have to settle for the Souvenir Card .
That note is gorgeous and should price out somewhere in the 12K-20K range. I sure hope no one in the forum purchased this one since I'm fairly certain the ebay sale is not on the "up and up".
That was my point. How can someone put up 5K to a seller with no sales record. God bless 'em if the sale goes through, but I doubt it.

I would love to know what you mean by "not on the up and up". Do you think this is counterfeit along with the TPG encasing?
I screen captured the note in question and posted it so others can more easily see what we're talking about. So what's the lowdown on this?
It's not the note we're questioning, it's the seller. The seller has never sold anything before and his first sale is a huge $$$ note. I for one, would not send 5K to someone with no track record. Here is a note from the same sheet, check the ser.# and the price. http://currency.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=424&Lot_No=14764#photo
This note has sold several times in the last few years, most recently on ebay earlier this year and not by this seller. Sold for 12K. The image has clearly been cropped and stolen and "sold" on a hijacked ebay acct. Sadly, this happens quite alot and has reared it's ugly head again recently.
Definately a fraud. Try emailing the seller and ask any question you want such as "will you be listing anymore rare currency in the future? I missed out on your recent $5 1899 Bison note. Thanks" You will not receive a response... As Currencylover stated, this is a reoccurring scam. I have reported many of these to ebay and nothing ever happens, at least nothing I know of.
