Round 10 ! I'll only rank those who played in the last round. Dropped score after every 16th. Dropped scores this week. Leadfoot - drops second:hail: Swish - drops second:hail: Gotta have at least 10 graded to rank. Rankings (points reflect average grades off tpg grades): GOLD - Raider - .70 SILVER - Duke - .83 BRONZE - Ldhair - .84 and now the Pack: 4th - Lehigh - .88 5th - Leadfoot - .90 6th - Bigjpst / Swish - 1.00 7th - RLM's / Badthad - 1.06 8th - Mark_H - 1.13 > Still plenty of time to make a run for the top... but each round in now critical. TPG's this round: ANACS - 1871 ICG - 1944D PCI (green label) - 1932D... looks overdipped to me, but not BB'ed and I can't argue with the grade too much,, PCGS - 1946S
I expect a move to 2nd after this round. VF 30 (details) 66 FB 50 66 (really torn on this one between 65 and 66) p.s. your overexposed photos make grading very difficult.
p.p.s. please don't get the wrong idea -- it is WONDERFUL that you're putting together this contest, and I appreciate that. Just a bit frustrated that I can't be even more confident in the grades and feel like the photo's exposure is what's holding me back. Dial back your exposure by about 1/2 to 1 stop and your photos will really improve.
I was kinda expecting some grief over the pictures,,, because I had arranged the remaining pictures from worst to best before round 9 (after the two exacta's in a row)... anyway,, I think this is the last batch of poor pictures (you should have seen some the cent pictures the group had to deal with .... also,,, you need to firm up the " ? ".... it either is,, or it isn't....
Think I'm late to the party on these, but I'll practice my grading. #1)VF20 DETAILS #2)MS63 FB #3)XF45 #4)MS62
1871- VF25 Details 1944D- MS66 1932D- AU50 1946S- MS66 (I'm with Leadfoot, tough decision between 65 and 66).
1) VF-20 details cleaned scratched. 2) MS-66 FB 3) AU50 4) MS-65 And to add to Mikes comments we are trying to match a grade to a TPG grade. Not grade the coin. I know in one thread if I had bumped it because of the tpg I would have done better. Is this an old or a new ANACs holder? Might make a difference in how some grade the coin - looks like a new one.
The ANACS holder is the new Blue one... I think they use yellow/orange now,,, I guess the blue was right before that.
1st 1871- VF20 Details bet you want to ad a CC to that 2nd 1944- MS66FB 3rd 1932- AU53 4th 1946- MS65
I just got back home. Those pix are better on this monitor, but they are still nasty. ANACS - 1871 = VF-20 details ICG - 1944D = MS-66 FB PCI (green label) - 1932D = AU-50 PCGS - 1946S = MS-65
The seated liberty dollar looks like someone tried to improve it (and failed) I would think that it would drop it to a f-15, the dime is nice but I think that it would grade at 65 with full definition between the bands, the 32d washington quarter is much nicer than the one my dad had, I would guess it is about an au-53, the half dollar is in real nice shape, there are lots of nice examples from that year, I will guess that it is a 65. This time I did not use the books to grade, but went on the pictures and the other comments.
..Round 10 recap: Strong participation and competition ! ... did I happen to mention trending last round ? ANACS grades: 1871 - VF25, cleaned & graffiti > didn't have a seated, and this one was only $100 and change off heritage,, so what the heck... now I have one. Everyone but Ldhair noted the BB... ouch Ld... ICG grades: 1944D - MS66FB > really a nice merc,, blast white, dripping luster, standard bu merc. PCI (green label) grades: 1932D - EF40 > I guess this was the sleeper zinger in the group, although I think it is graded correctly,, maybe 45... some luster is there, but too much wear on high points imo to warrant AU.... maybe an upgrade candidate for the big 3 if they would pass the happy dipping. PCGS grades: 1946S - MS66 > couldn't capture the blue,, all the toning is blue in hand... very attractive coin in hand, and good detail..... but borderline 65/66 as stated imo. Maybe the toning pushed it to 66. Raider continues to extend his lead.... someone buy him a 5th of B&B before he grades round 11. Awards for this set of coins: Best - Raider - .50 HA - Ldhair - 3.00, not calling the BB hurt (5pts.), but you've also earned your first dropped score just in time, so rankings should be saved the brunt effect of this one. Others: Leadfoot - .75... nice score. Jallengomez - 2.25 Mark_h - 1.00 Swish - 1.50 Lehigh - 1.00 Bigjspt - 1.00 Duke - 1.25 Bqcoins - 1.25 Badthad - 1.00 RLM's - 1.00 Chip - 1.75 On to round 11,, and the last of my fair or poor pics imo,,,
