When the United States started to make its own coins, only Lady Liberty was put on the obverse. I heard that this was because America was not a land Caesars and would not have Caesar on its coins. Should U.S. replace the presidents with Lady Liberty on U.S. currency?

I voted don't know because I'd like to see her replace the 20th century presidents but not Lincoln,Washington and Jefferson. To me their images are not just as presidents but also symbols of freedom and liberty, like the lady herself.

A sizeable majority complained about the healthcare bill. So what did congress do? Passed it anyways. Complaining to Congress is a waste of time, breath, energy, stress, and hopes.

Wouldn't it be nice if " we the people" actually had some say so? Register to vote for our money like we register to vote for the people who won't let us choose our money...

I don't know about putting Liberty back, but we should certainly change to something else. These dead presidents have been around way too long. Half of them are on our paper money anyway, and all of them are in the Presidential dollar series too.

Wanna get technical she is on the dollar coins, in statue form :p

But as a obverse design like the old days, damn straight I want her back. Like others, im tired of dead presidents.

I am okay with bringing back Walking Liberty. A few of the other Liberty's looked a little too much like Leroy Liberty.

I'm up for a change from the dead presidents theme that is boring most numismatists/ coin collectors to death. It doesn't necissarily have to be Lady Liberty, but something that positively reflects our nation as a whole.

True, more flying eagles or something.

I always thought the platinum eagle designs were nice. Dunno why we cant have that kind on our main coinage.

Yes return her to silver coins. How about a standing Miss Liberty like the 1916-1930 quarters. That would bring about some interesting conversation! Woo, Woo. Seriously, I think it would be great to have her back.

Lady Liberty represents the idea of future greatness.

The presidents represent the achievements of man.

I would prefer that our coins show us what we can became instead of glorifying past achievements.

I wish another Teddy Roosevelt would come along and demand beautiful and idealistic coinage for our nation.

With today's exposure to borderline nudity and obscene language in public places, sex, drugs, and rock and roll.. I'd say Marilyn Monroe.

Here is what the obverse of future coins should look like:

In the for ground is Lady Liberty looking strait ahead with a her torch held hight. Behind her is an open door with rays from the sun shining through.

    The New Colossus

"Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,

    With conquering limbs astride from land to land;

Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand

A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame

Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name

Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand

Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command

The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

"Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she

With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

At her feet lay a sword and a shield. These symbolize her readiness to defend that which is behind the door.

Don't tell that to the immigration people! First they hated the Irish, then the Eastern Europeans and chinese, now the Latinos.
