I acquired the first of these Cuba Castro issue 1962 40 Centavos coins in the mid 1960's. It had the holes drilled in it then. I acquired this one recently without holes: I do not know if the holes were a 1960's political statement or what. The man on the coin is Camilo Cienfuegos, a Cuban revolutionary and friend of Fidel Castro.
Nice coins. It's good that you have one with no holes drilled in. You can admire the coin as it's meant to be. I hate it when people drill holes in coins. I can't understand why you'd want to wear a coin as jewellery. Although, in your case it does seem to be a political statement...hya: Or BB gun target practise?
