Someone copying my coin picture to sell on Ebay???? Hi all, well this is really something, and I need some opinons here on this Ebay listing. I had posted a question not long ago about if my 1970-s Lincoln was a large or small date and I had included a picture. I almost fell over when searching Ebay and found this listing. The picture looks EXACTLY like mine that I posted. What the heck is going on? I am almost 100% positive it's MY coin in the picture. If you look at my coin the "o" in God is dark and also the back ground is the arm of my couch. Also the coin is dark inside the rim on the left side. I am not selling this coin nor had i listed it on ebay either. So what do you think????? Here is the EBAY link below: http://cgi.ebay.com/1970-S-Lincoln-Memorial-Penny_W0QQitemZ280499148735QQihZ018QQcategoryZ31373QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3911.m7QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DLVI%26itu%3DUCI%26otn%3D3%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D8842600169189904798 Here is the original post below about my 1970-s Lincoln. Tell me what you think? 1970-s Penny SD or LD? Hi, I am curious about this 1970-s penny if it is a small date or large, and looks off center a bit. Any information would be great! Thanks. Report it to eBay immediately! The is a typical scam that some of the sleazebayers use to cheat people. Chris
That is definately your coin and you need to report it to ebay and hope they remove the auction. This guy is probably selling a coin that is in worse shape than the one you have hoping the person who buys it will not notice the differance.
I just reported him. I never thought that people would copy someone elses picture for an Ebay listing. The coin is not the one people are going to get, so what a loser. I was just looking at some listings and wow was I shocked to see that! Thank you so much for yor replies! So he has been reported and hope he can take his own pics. I put the link to my post for my 1970-s Lincoln in my report so they will be able to see it for themselves.
Deb, you didn't mention it, but do you use a hosting service for your photos or are they posted directly from your computer? Chris
Exactly, because if you google 1970-s penny my post shows up from cointalk, so he took it from there most likely.
Its not necessarily a scam.sometimes people use pictures that are similar,so they dont have to do the work & take a picture themselves.its just pure laziness, but some are scammers.Report it.
I did post a question to the seller if that would be the actual coin to be sent to winning bidder. lol.. Hope he posts a reply soon.
Then again, you may have made him aware that you are onto him if he remembers your username and can link it to the photo. If you haven't reported him to eBay by now, then there is nothing more we can do. It's up to you. We can't do it for you. Chris
I have reported him, and if he's that stupid to use someone elses picture he's probably too stupid to remember my name. I recieved a respose from Ebay and it should be removed soon hopefully.
You shouldn't underestimate a con artist. He spends his entire day trying to figure ways to cheat people. Chris
