So how many problems can you pick out in this auction? http://cgi.ebay.com/1953-P-Wheatbac...354094489QQcategoryZ39457QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Have fun, Michael
Wow - you can pick up a whole set from the same seller - '42, '47, '53, '62. And you can get a 49s cent that was "clipped."
I saw an auction that was for 99 different wheaties, um...I don't think there were 99 different years of wheats minted, or maybe he just has 99 1959 wheaties, those are all different in some way :goofer:
Shiny zinc? Actually 1909-1958 is 50 years, but with lots of D and S mintings, proofs, matte proofs, etc., my guess is that there are well over 150 different wheaties, not counting the errors and varieties.
It IS a bit suspicious that the same seller has THIS coin, also: http://cgi.ebay.com/1962-P-Wheatbac...goryZ524QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem The question is: Could a Mint worker have found some leftover zinc/steel planchets from 1943, and tossed them into the presses in 1953 AND 1963? That would seem to be unlikely, but those coins would be hard to counterfeit, IMHO, because even if you zinc-plated them, you can't make them magnet-attractive.
