I feel like a complete idiot , well so be it. I want to transfer my Lincoln Wheats collection from the old "press in" Dansco to the new Dansco 7103 I bought today. I can not , for the life of me , figure out how to place a coin inside the hole. I looked all around the edges and did not see any way to open it up or slide out the cardboard coin holes. Am I supposed to punch out the protective clear plastic that is on the OBV & REV sides of each hole ? ( that would sort of defeat me preservation needs ) HELP !!!
The plastic pieces on each side slide out the end that does not have the holes for the binder. So looking at the page with it not in the binder, slide the plastic to the left. Hope this helps
BTW, dont feel like an idiot. Sometimes I feel you have to be a engeneer to figure some of these things out.
Thank you for trying to help , but I searched all the way around the edges and do not see a way to slide either the plastic or the cardboard out. I even searched for some guides online and the instructions I found were similar to yours: http://www.brent-krueger.com/albumslides.html What am I not seeing ? Did I get a defective folder and sheets ? Never mind , I just figured it out. I was trying so hard not to touch the plastic sheets , I neglected trying to slide them out by pinching them through the hole and sliding to the right as you suggested. Thank You !
Sometimes, the company employees putting the albums together will push the plastic lenses too far into the slots, and it can make it very hard, even if you use tweezers, to get them out. There is an easier way which does not require as much effort. Put on a pair of the cotton gloves that you can get at most any coin supply store. Using your thumb and forefinger, apply pressure on the plastic lenses covering the hole nearest the edge of the page and pull toward the edge of the page. You might have to repeat this more than once if the album is for small coins, i.e. 1c, 5c, 10c, but you will eventually see the edge of the lenses coming out of the slot. One more thing, if you've never used this type of album before, be sure that the back lens is in place before inserting the coins. When you put the coins in, make sure that they are pressed against the back lens before you insert the front lens. Note: You should definitely be wearing cotton gloves while doing this. This will eliminate the possibilty of the leading edge of the top lens from scraping one or more of the coins as it is being inserted. Once you have the top lens in position, you can then adjust the coins in each hole by applying very light pressure on the back lens. Chris
Someone I know decided to put his Jefferson nickel collection into an album, and he couldn't understand why there weren't enough slots in the Dansco for what was then a complete collection, 1938-2004. Upon looking at it, I realized that he had the album upside down and backwards at the same time, and he hadn't paid any attention to the print that was on the back of each page. It was a Buffalo nickel album. Chris
Love My new Dansco ! Ok , after coin collect for 4 months now & due to ALL the help I got here , I was able to get my wheats transferred out of my taped together "press-in" Dansco , to my new 4 page deluxe model and I am down to only semi-key and key dates left to go. Take a look !
