I found this 1988 Lincoln Cent and at closer examination i found that the IN GOD WE TRUST has been struck through the center of In God We Trust.. Is this normal?? Thanks in advance Rick

It is really hard to know what you mean without seeing it. Can you post some pics so we can get a look at what you are talking about.

I have been trying to upload a Pick but it will not download. It keeps saying Fatal Error???? I,ll try to explain what i am looking at! Up where the In God We Trust is on the coin looks as though the punch where the rim should be, is Punched through the in god we trust.Half of the lettering is above and half below the in god we trust.. Directly through the center.. I,ll keep trying to upload a pick.. Thanks Rick

It sounds like you have a coin that was just mis-struck but without seeing it there is know way for me to be 100% sure

Don't give up on the 1988 cents !

Just because that 1988 cent was not special does not mean you find some interesting varieties in the 1988 Memorial cent. Check out CopperCoin

The 1988-D is becoming 1 of my favorites to search for now when I buy bank boxes of cents. The RPM ( repunched mint mark ) varieties are pretty easy to spot without having to using an electron microscope.

Die deterioration is caused from very worn over used dies. Its not a good thing...
