This guy's auctions are just weird. I mean, his auction is for "random coins" where the picture he shows you is not even what you will be getitng. Open one up, you'll see... http://shop.ebay.com/alexconnolly2/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340 And he only accept credit card charges, no paypal lol. And the coins might be from 1850s all the way up to 2005. Next generation of scams...
Weird isnt the word for it!! Check out his 8 feedback rating a newbie!! I dont think he will be selling to much to this community!!
It is absolutely NOT against eBay rules. See http://pages.ebay.com/help/pay/methods.html. They accept
LOL....next time I buy something for around $20 I'm going to ask to use the "escrow" payment method. With a 30 year payoff! Hey, times are tough Guy~
I like this statement... "I have exactly 36 coins that are not wheat cents. That means you have almost a 50% chance of getting one of the four pictured coins above" Actually that would be a 4/36 or 1/9 or 11% chance to get one of the four coins pictured above. Apparently 11 is pretty close to 50. All for the dollar...all for the dollar.
This link is for Buyers' payment options, but sellers are not allowed to deny a buyer the option to use Pay Pal which is owned by eBay. Chris
True. Also, this guy is a hack. WTF? A buck for some crap that might have come out of your pocket today?
Yep... this auction is very "ify"... especially stating that he listing his coins for $0.99 to avoid listing fees, and charging $11.99 shipping to make up the difference. Not a good idea.
The dead give away to stay away from his auctions............NO RETURNS! I wouldn't buy anything without a return policy.
I've been waiting for RLM to get in on this thread. I do believe he has the Ebay rules down pretty pat.
Thats what happens when auctions that violate ebay's terms are reported. They won't stop counterfeit coins from China being sold, but they end an auction where a seller charges $11.99 for shipping, which I figure would be the only real way to got them canned. However, when an item is canned, it shows/states that the item has been ended, which is not the case here. Perhaps the seller ended them on his own....maybe he got emails from members, or happened upon this thread?? Regardless, it just means another ebay mess is cleaned up.....for now.
A seller must take an electronic payment method, but it does NOT need to be PayPal. It can be a credit card accepted directly thru the sellers merchant account.
Greg, wasn't there a discussion about this on the NGC forum? It was my understanding that a seller could not refuse to accept Pay Pal. If I'm wrong, I'll retract my statement and apologize. Chris
Found the eBay regs; Here is the link http://pages.ebay.com//help/policies/accepted-payments-policy.html. Don't believe me yet? Go argue with eBay. BTW, glad to hear we know more than the NGC forum. Yes, sellers can deny a buyer the option to use PayPal No, sellers are not forced to take an electronic payment method although it is not very practical to avoid this one (at least - payment upon pickup).
