I found this $50 note and on the front, clearly visible is ink from what looks like the reverse of another note that was laid on top of it or a bleed through from the back of the note. It has the backward scroll of "The United States of America" showing across the top. Is this common? Does this carry a premium? In other words, is this a keeper or should I just spend it. THANKS!!!
Can we see the reverse? Alot of times this is do to over inking if the reverse Is darker thats probably what happened!! If not we can investigate further!
bleed through on the older style notes is actually quite common, especially notes from the '90s. i have quite a few older notes that exhibit the same bleed through. i would say go ahead and spend it. there isnt going to be any premium. here is a $50 i have from '93. its not quite as dark as ours but you can still see the bleed through. nice Chicago note :thumb:
I can scan the reverse tonight when I'm at home. It looked perfectly normal to me. If this is common for 90s notes, then I'll probably just spend this since saving $50 notes is kinda out of my budget. b
I've got a few like that. I just kept them because they were really crisp. I know what you mean about saving large bills. I wish sometimes I had bought gold instead of saving old large bills. The return would have been better.
Here is the reverse of that 50. My question again, is do I just spend it? It doesn't look like there is a premium for something like this... Funny, I didn't notice that the front bled through to the back until I posted this picture.... bob
