My New Edward VI Hammered Shilling

    I can see that its been cleaned a lot and I paid £60 for it which isn't that much but isn't that good, I bought it from someone with years of experience and he gets all his finds directly from detectorists like me. I know its not fake.

    Yes, the testoon was first issued in 1502, and again in 1544 under Henry VIII. And while its value was 12d, it was called a testoon - not a shilling. The first coins called shillings were issued by Edward VI.

    Yeah, you can say "a rose by any other name" if you wish. But my statement is accurate.
