On occassion I will pick up a silver certificate to have a piece of history. I try to stay within spending a couple of dollars for I have no knowledge and don't want to get ripped off. I picked up 2 notes today and wanted to see if the price was reasonable and to see if I did ok. First : Paid $3 1957 $1 Dollar Silver Certificate Star Note SN: 74984244 B Second: Paid $3 1935 D $1 Silver Certificate SN: S 23209740 F Thank you -Shrek
I think you did good! The 1935 I would definitly have purchased at that price. The 1957 I can't be sure on...for a regular note in that condition it would be too much, but I don't know about the Star note variety. I paid $1.50 for my non-star 1957, in slightly worse condition then your 1935.
Thanks guys..I normally wouldnt have bought that crusty note but when I noticed the * I was like hmm...It was the only star note in the bunch -Shrek
It seems that your * silver certificate is also a series B. I do not know the 1st thing about paper currency , but I did notice that "B" series silver certificates command a premium over "A" series on "that auction site". By the way , my best to your growing family ( 21 days old ? )
