OK, I think I'm getting better at identifying problems. This coin has been (as they say) whizzed... yes? Claimed AU-58 but the coin is more or less toasted.
WOW---I'm not too good at wizzed coins but there is something the matter with this coin. I can't say for sure but wizzed would be something I would think about...the back seems to have lots of marks like that. Also looks cleaned. I wouldn't buy this coin....I also would wonder why the seller didn't take photos straight on..... Speedy
Yikes! IMO, you are correct...looks whizzed to me. Wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole for annything other than a pocket piece.
There is no natural process which would leave the raised surfaces on that coin so shiny; indeed, for the fields to be so shiny, I'd almost expect the head and eagle to be cameo. The shine on the wings, face, date and stars is a dead giveaway.
I saw this link posted on another forum... http://mendosus.com/whizzing/whiz-b-a-2.html -and it seems to look exactly like that. Before seeing the pictures, I thought "whizzing" was more subtle, but it looks almost melted... and freakishly shiney. I (as I'm sure many do) appreciate a nice shiney coin as much as the next jimmy, but not like that. It looks chromed, eh? Chrome coins = not good.
