found this on a site is this a grind Coin?Seems like i run into a lot of fakes http://www.webstore.com/error-penny-mistruck-see-pictures,name,3042375,auction_id,auction_details
Agree with Mad.Outcast on this one; it looks like someone used a grinder, belt sander or Dremel tool on the coin.
They removed most of the only valuable metal from it so all that's left is the zinc core. I have 1909 VDB Lincoln cent, where the SF mint forgot to add the S mint mark and several Morgan Dollars where the Carson City Mint forgot to add the CC mint mark. -LTB
yea, I duno why they call them errors for ,be better to call them a novelty coin,But again isn't damaging a coin still against the law? and look at what his answer was when i ask him about the coin From: janekf2001 Sent: Apr. 25, 2010 17:32:12 that is how i got it at the mint From: coinsguy2010 Sent: Apr. 25, 2010 17:22:05 Status: READ (Apr. 25, 2010 17:31:28) isn't that a ground penny i see the grind marks
Only if it is done with the intent to defraud. No such intent? Your free to destroy all your coins except you can't melt the cnets or five cent pieces. You cna beat them to death but you can't melt them.
I have a few of those too. Must be a bigger mintage of thoe errors then I thought. You found a spot so sell them yet?
Well i guess i was misinformed i thought it read some thing like thiscan,t deface a coin ,learn some thin all the time thanks Guys
I don't see anything mistruck about it. What's wrong with this seller? If some sap buys it, I'm getting out my grinder.
yea i am starting to see a lot of this stuff around now,I think i will start a colllection on novelty aspect of it to have a few laffs ..on the serious side of it though..this seller at this site sells a lot of stuff in the error field so he knows that did not come from the Mint.why he would say it did, to people that would question is crazy..take a lot of time to add 27 pages of auctions..to be found out selling Grind stuff and roughed up coins is getting a bad Reputaion..That why i really like this site..when i need knowlege this is where i coming for sure,Thanks Guys ya are Great
Then you might like this Grind/road kill, whatever. Here is your chance to 1909 VDB for melt!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330429798645&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT
Hope you all don't mind a dumb question: asking them is what I'm here to do. What's the motivation for taking a grinder to a coin? What valuable error does a ground coin look like, and how does that error happen?
