1887 six pence charm...

    Has anyone ever come across a old coin that has been altered to use as a pendent of some sort????

    Things like this are interesting and collectible. They are usually referred to as 'love tokens.'
    I just picked one up today that was made from an 1851 silver 3 cent piece and I saw one that was on a toned Seated Liberty dime.

    Yes i found it kind of odd yet interesting. Is there any value to them?

    I could be wrong, but my experience has been they are more interesting than valuable. For instance, I paid far less than book for the silver piece I mentioned above because to a coin collector it is a coin with a hole (damaged). To me it is more interesting and less money- so the best of both worlds.

    Love tokens are highly collectible.

    Even holed they are popular collectibles.

    But-------

    How the heck did that coin & loop fit into a roll?

    no kidding, that roll must've had a lump in it. But love tokens, even as torn up ones go for some money.

    Yep! The roll had a lump in it. lol When i opened the roll it was the first thing i saw. i found the script different, i thought at first it said Me Sep. 1900, then realized that it was not that at all... Where would one find someone who collects them? Thanks Rick
