Check your proof sets boys !!! Out of the three sets I ordered two of the Washington Quarters are DDO , the second one is hardly noticed on the motto , but "AMERICA" IS TORE UP , ALMOST LOOKS LIKE TWINS

Where can I send these to to have them verified as the real McCoy?

You can send them to the guys with CONECA www.conecaonline.org
I really don't think these are true DD's.

Looks like machine doubling to me which are VERY common

    Definite not FLAT

No...it doesn't look to be flat....but it doesn't really take the look of true doubling either.

There are 8 classes of doubling, and many many types of other forms of doubling...and so I'm sure it could be one of them.

You guys are missing the fact that these are proofs and as such they are struck twice. This is not a double die, but a double struck coin, as evidenced by the doubling on the MM (which isn't on the hub). If the back is slightly off too then the coin moved between strikes and if the back shows no doubling then the obverse die moved slightly between strikes.

    I couldn't fiqure it out.

There are faint letters above each one and doubling

Agreed, possibly not a Doubled die.
However, look at the Mintmark again:

It looks like there is a 'squared' off top.

Possibly??????? could it be from an S over D? With the D heavily removed?

I would agree with you on Coinsarefun's 1999-S quarter, it is the result of movement of the die in between strikes, but I don't see that on Pupa's coin. I'm seeing a secondary raised rounded image on the letters and a slight thickening of the letters. I think that could very well be a doubled die. And if it is you WOULD expect to see it on the mintmark as well because the mintmark IS on the hub. The mintmark has been on the master hubs on the proof coins since 1985 and on all of the business strike master hubs since 1990.

After further research, I stand corrected on this point.

Ran across this while researching Pupa.

The coin is not a DDO but machine doubling.

I found similar "doubling" on a 2008-S Kennedy and sent it in for attribution. MDD.
