So, I ordered an SLQ album on March 19th. The expected USPS delivery date was between March 24th and April 2nd. The seller had shipped it and the last status report was March 23rd in New Jersey. I emailed the seller with my concern and he just told me, "either you will receive it or it will come back".

Now it's April 21st, and this is by far the longest I've had to wait for an item. I know this is a dumb question, but I've not been in this situation before. How long should I continue to wait? If it's lost, is he on the hook for a refund, or do I eat it? I'm sure it wasn't insured. [IMG] Anyways, any advice would be helpful. thanks in advance.

No worries, you're covered by ebay's buyer protection policy.

As long as the status of your item doesn't say "Delivered", you're good to go.

I would start the communication with ebay to get the process started; I think you have waited a reasonable amount of time.

I believe you have a time limit from the auction date.

Thanks Louie! Should I prod the seller for a refund first, or do I just go straight through and file for 'item not received' through ebay??

Go to ebay and look up the ebay buyer protection policy. I just read through part of it and you better get moving with your claim, as you are protected under their policy for 45 days after you make payment on the item. And if you paid on 3/19, you only have until 5/3 to get your claim into them.

Go to the resolution center and file a dispute before time runs out (I believe it is 60 days). Paypal covers the cost if you used that method of payment. It is a slow process before you get refunded.

    OK 45 days thanks.

I would prod now, but do not wait too long. I would file this week or Monday at the latest just to play it safe. You have been very patient. BTW, if the seller used delivery confirmation, check at the post office. They can get at a lot more info than you can see on line. A LOT more!

With the new process, the only refund I have received took a total of 2 days.

Use the ebay communication system and politely request a refund from the seller. Explain the length of time that has elapesed in your communication and the fact that there is no status update on the USPS website. If the seller refuses to issue a refund then file a claim with PayPal and only communicate with the seller in a polite and professional manner no matter how the seller might react. If the seller tells you that you did not purchase insurance and therefore this is your problem then you should be aware that delivery of goods is the responsibility of the seller, not the buyer. Deal with PayPal and keep things professional and you will get your refund.

Did you use pay-pal for purchase? If so you will be covered there as well :)

one time i bought a coin on ebay that was shipped priority/registered through USPS and it took 7 weeks to arrive (California to Maryland) ... it seems when the seller goes to collect the insurance ... it lights a fire under the USPS's @ss and they find it
