    Just acquired this 1884O Morgan.
I know it's a common date, but I didn't see much wrong with her.
    How would you grade it??

Nice Morgan! My guess is PCGS gave it a 64.

I concur with raider. There are just a few too many bag marks and luster grazes to give it MS65.

Not a 65, Probably 63 or 64 that would be my guess!

    Leadfoot there is no spoon

Looks like a strong 64 to me.

I agree, very 64.If there was a bit less chatter it would be 65.but you might get that grader, that had a good night:D the night before.

But it does have a super white tight hair curl,,,,,,it might go 65

The coin has an excellent strike for an '84-O. And most of what we can see on the coin are frost breaks, not really contact marks that disturb metal. What contact marks there are are very light. So I would agree with 64.

Nice and Frosty, but I'll say that PCGS gave her an MS-65.

Uh oh! If Doug thinks it is a 64 then I need to switch my guess to 65.:p Seriously though, how much do you take into account luster grazes. Normally I don't penalize the coin much, but in this case there are so many that they affect the overall eye appeal of the coin. That was my reason for dropping it to MS64. It wouldn't surprise me if this coin resided in an MS65 holder. It also wouldn't surprise me if the luster grazes were not as distracting in hand. A photo at the correct angle can easily make them appear worse than they are.

Lol, I was thinking the same thing. I was originally on the fence between 64 and 65. I was going to ask how distracting the marks on the cheek were in hand.

If the luster's strong, and those hits don't look as bad, I would say it's a 65.
