I come across these every once in a while and put them off to the side. I am curious if any of the token collectors here see any that might stand out. Some are hard to find.
Neat collection of Patriotic Civil War Tokens. You might want to check out the link below. The link will take you to a site that is having a large auction and you should be able to get a sense of prices from the auction site. With Civil War tokens there are numerous die variations and versions. For example: the Franz Sigel token has three possible reverses and is pretty worn but, is a $30-$50 token, however the same token with an arc of stars above the statue is a R-7 and is a $700+ token depending on condition. Also, there are countless varieties of the Our Little Monitor. The book, A Guide Book of Civil War Tokens by Dave Bowers is a good primer on Civil War Tokens. civilwartokens.com
Yes, the Monitor token is quite common, but super popular. Hence the high prices. The piece with the log cabin on the reverse is an 1840 William Henry Harrison presidential campaign token. It is common. The Whigs issued a lot tokens for that campaign. The piece with cannon is also quite popular. It’s not as common, far from rare.
The Franz Siege piece is the common variety. If you can read “Hero of pea ridge” above the horse rider, it’s a good one. If not, then it’s common. The really good one has stars above the rider.
