I have a 1943 Jefferson Nickel in a cardboard coin holder that says it is doubled eye. It looks like there is a second eye below the first, but I'm not exactly sure. I need a few other opinions on this coin! If it is doubled eye, how much is it worth? Thanks! Here are the pictures of it: http://i1021.photobucket.com/albums/af335/jaaronh/DSCN0875.jpg http://i1021.photobucket.com/albums/af335/jaaronh/nickeldoubleeye1.png
The one closest seems to be ( from Coneca) You should be able to see the Doubling in the other areas mentioned if it is the real one and not an artifact from damage. Do a close up of IGWT and the Date to help. Jim
Unfortunately, that is not a doubled eye 1943-P Jefferson Nickel. The doubling of the eye is located below the original eye and is very prominent even in circulated grades. Here are a few photos of both mint state and circulated doubled eye Jefferson Nickels. The circulated coin above is an AU50 graded by PCGS and sold for $60 last year. The uncirculated examples sell for hundreds or thousands of dollars depending upon the grade of the coin.
