How common are 1979-P wide rim SBA dollars? I got some rolls of dollar coins at the bank today, and found three wide rim ones.

    Thanks, Charlie

Don't hold me to it being the definitive answer, but I think about 10% are wide rim.

Thanks GD, that would mean around 36 million total.

  5. According to Walter Breen, a little light reading, there were 643 type II dies.
I can not recall how many coins from 1 die but if you know, that would be the answer.

    Happy hunting,

With that many dies, 10% would be a bit low for that would translate into about 60,000 coins per die. While some dies would produce even fewer than that, most would produce into the hundreds of thousands of coins. Based on that info I think I would change my estimate to about 25% - or somewhere around 90 million.

    Lucky You

I collect SBA dollars and I look hard for these. You should concider yourself lucky to find them so close to each other. If they grade MS you've got something. If you want to let them go "I'll Take Them". :D
