Well, its another weekend. So here's another rainbow toned Capped Bust Half! (I can't keep this up forever, just a few more left to get caught up). Guess the Grade! Guess the Overton! I've provided 3 sets of pictures - one from PCGS, one from the dealer, and one from me.
Very tough coin to grade from pix. I see the obv as XF40. However, the rev I see as AU55. I'll give the net grade as AU50.
Yes, O-104 is what I have it as. Any more guesses on the grade? Nobody has guessed what PCGS called it, yet (whether they are right or wrong is another question, I suppose).
Can you break down the surfaces, and die characteristics along with your grade when you give the reveal? I think that the dies and strike is playing a lot into this grade. Hey Cheech, I think you were a few key strikes off?
Well, ok guys. Time to wrap this one up. PCGS called it AU-58. In hand, I think that's a bit generous, and I'd agree with the 53-55 crowd. A 58 should not have noticeable flattening of the high points. This coin has great fields, luster across the fields with minor interruptions, and incredible color.
