I've had this as of Domitian for many years. Quite a pretty coin with nice detail on a big planchet.

You will see, however, that both obverse and reverse retain a large amount of scale and deposits, and/or concretions, which obscure the detail. I tried once removing the deposits with a rose thorn without success - the deposits are hard and cannot be removed by this means.

My question: is there any other way to remove these deposits and concretions, of course without damaging the surfaces.

    Thanks for any tips.

Wow! That's a splendid, interesting and (for me as well) highly desirable coin. I personally would keep it the way it is. But if you feel the need to get rid of those deposits, I'd consult a professional in order to keep the coin as good as possible. Maybe @galba68 has some tips?
