Crystal River, FL. Just got back from a really nice local show. It was large, well-attended, and well run with great catered food in the hall. Something for everyone, paper, stamps, coins. I did not get around to the entire show so there possibly was not an ancient coin dealer. If you are a collector who didn't go to the Baltimore show and lived within a hundred miles, this show would have satisfied your "itch." I cannot wait to go back. The show was like the "old days" of my youth.
I never went to this show, but I'll say that Florida has some of the best local shows of all the states I've lived in. You might think it's a small city and not worth your time, but they are generally good shows. Florida has a very active collecting community.
I haven't been to a coin show for years. I like the concept of ...like the old days... The last one I went to was in Houston. All crowded into one small room. Not very friendly or customer oriented. The dealers and their friends hung around each other talking with no room to get close to the merchandise. Turned me off.
A bigger show is much nicer. Regionals are good....nationals even better. Had a BLAST at only big one I attended, FUN 2020 pre-Covid.
One of my favorite dealers at our local show used to come up from Florida. He said there were lots of buying opportunities there. Sadly, he passed several years ago.
