60,000 Post Celebration

I just hit that amazing number so I’m posting a coin I picked up a few years ago. It’s an 1864 $.02 Cent Piece. It has circulated but the reverse is the reason I bought her.

Yes if is. It took years and I enjoyed every one of them.

 

I knew someone would say that. It not but it does look like it. I thought do myself at first. The design is showing under the missing area and that wouldn’t be the case if damaged. There is not displaced metal along both sides of the missing area. There is sharp metal on the right side but that’s where it became detached. Very obvious in hand.

That's one heck of a lamination.

 

Maybe Peter will start one. I saw that coin and it called out to me. That lamination error is a great one.

 

It's the "Small Motto" variety, but I'm sure you knew that.
