I just hit that amazing number so I’m posting a coin I picked up a few years ago. It’s an 1864 $.02 Cent Piece. It has circulated but the reverse is the reason I bought her. A detached reverse lamination error.
I noticed last night that I was 33 away from 1000 and thought that was pretty cool. But, 60,000! You must be a long-time Postin!..Postin!..Postiiiiiin!..POSTING MACHINE! Welp, that makes 32 to go.
I knew someone would say that. It not but it does look like it. I thought do myself at first. The design is showing under the missing area and that wouldn’t be the case if damaged. There is not displaced metal along both sides of the missing area. There is sharp metal on the right side but that’s where it became detached. Very obvious in hand.
Congrats! I'd nominate you for the Coin Talk Hall of Fame but we don't got one. That's one heck of a lamination.
Maybe Peter will start one. I saw that coin and it called out to me. That lamination error is a great one.
