I couldn't help but wonder why this coin is so valuable. Then I remembered World War 2. Seems most never so circulation and were melted for their Silver for the war effort. They are extremely rare and valued.
yes thats true, i read something about that in a super old post, dated back from like 2005 or somethin, for the war effort they were melting down the silver coinage...this coin has a dot under georges head and a dot under the lowest flower on the backside, that makes it a bombay coin correct?
HOLY SMOKES!!!!! ive been on this indian collectors site...kinda like ebay/craigslist of india.....the coins that i have...and the proof coins i have...are selling from anywhere from 50,000rs like 1250US all the way up to 500,000rs 12,500US (500,000 for this link, check it out... http://mumbai.olx.in/george-coin-1-2-pice-1939-iid-64327358 ..i have one ten times better shape than this one )!!! PER COIN!!!!! and some of them are in badddddd shape too! mine are mostly flawless beside father time screwing with the metals...im not touching them though!
